"Dr. Dave Montgomery at UW approached me about doing some illustrations for his marvelous book on Salmon entitled 'King of Fish' and especially wanted an illustration showing the relationships of all the salmonids. I consulted with Dr. Jerry Smith out in Michigan and came up with this image. Taxonomy can actually be loads of fun. Did you know that the giant saber toothed salmon ( now extinct and no I'm not making it up ) is the sister species to Sockeye Salmon? It's all there on the shirt." -Ray Troll
